Beginner Pistol Shooting

Are you a new firearm owner or new to pistol shooting?

Sometimes the biggest challenge can be as simple as getting started. This class is an introduction to basic pistol shooting, and helps set the groundwork for basic handgun mastery, making it the perfect first step in building your pistol training foundation. During this class, participants are encouraged to ask our professional, NRA certified instructors all of the firearms related questions they would like. The beginner pistol shooting class is suitable for all experience levels, but the goal is to teach the beginner shooter the basic knowledge, skills, and attitude for safely owning and operating a pistol.

The Basic Pistol course consist of two (2) sessions:

• In classroom session we will discuss:
  • gun safety rules
  • types of pistols
  • proper operation of revolvers and semi-automatic pistols
  • ammunition knowledge and selection
  • selecting and storing a pistol
  • the fundamentals of shooting
    • grip
    • stance
    • sight alignment & sight picture
    • breath control
    • trigger control
  • understanding firearm terminology
  • clearing malfunctions
  • pistol shooting errors
  • pistol inspection and maintenance.
• During the firing range session you will:
  • demonstrate comprehension and application of gun safety techniques
  • practice range protocols
  • practice proper firearm handling
  • work on pistol shooting fundamentals
    • grip
    • stance
    • sight alignment & sight picture
    • breath control
    • trigger control
  • practice loading and unloading procedures
  • try different stable shooting positions
  • practice live fire exercises

We recommend that you:

• Bring Sunscreen and bug spray
• Water and snacks
• Wear clothing suitable for Florida weather
• Don’t wear low-cut shirts
• Wear closed-toed shoes

Our Basic Handgun classes are held on a one-on-one basis so that we can insure you receive individual and personalized instruction and guidance throughout the beginner pistol shooting class. At the end of your beginner handgun class, you can schedule with your instructor to return to the classroom or range, if you wish to continue building your confidence and better your marksmanship skills.

The basic handgun training class is approximately 6 hours long and the cost is $150. This class can be separated into two consecutive 3 hour days

Our Classes are held at the Ascot Shooting Club in East Palatka, Florida. Preregistration is required.
